About The Artist

David Robson is a mature age artist largely self taught in watercolour and drawing. He did study sculpture at the Canberra School of Art under Ron Robertson-Swan.

He has experimented with most two-dimensional media and some three-dimensional – but always returns to his first love – works on paper.

Artist’s Statement

This anthology of thoughts, sketches, lessons, observations and exposed emotions, reflects one man’s personal twenty-year journey and his feelings: feelings about which he feels sufficiently strongly, that he won’t allow them to become a casualty: they have a right to live, to stand and to be counted.

An artist is like a soldier in the trenches – ultimately, to advance, we must stand up. There are snipers – some well intentioned, some not; there are machine gunners – some accurate, some not. There is even heavy artillery. If we are to be honest as artists, we must ultimately expose our souls, hearts, and our cojones.(It does take balls to stand up and be counted).

I hope you find some joy, entertainment, surprise and especially reflection in these snippets of my mind, my heart, my soul – and my cojones.
